FREETOWN (Reuters) - Former Liberian President Charles Taylor appeared in a U.N.-backed court in Sierra Leone on Monday to face 11 charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in that country's civil war, Reuters witnesses said.
His aides have said he would plead not guilty to multiple charges accusing him of receiving diamonds to train, finance and arm rebels during Sierra Leone's 1991-2002 civil war.
