Denver Nuggets basketball player shot, will recover
DENVER (Reuters) – Denver Nuggets rookie guard Julius Hodge
was shot early on Saturday morning and taken to a local
hospital where he was recovering, police said.
Hodge, 22, was driving on an interstate north of Denver
about 2:15 a.m. (4:15 a.m. EDT) when someone in another vehicle
pulled alongside him and opened fire, said Sgt. Louis Dixon of
the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
A passerby rushed the wounded Hodge to a local hospital,
Dixon said. Police have not identified a suspect or a possible
motive for the shooting.
“The doctors have informed us that he is in fair condition
and is expected to make a full recovery,” said Nuggets General
Manager Kiki Vandeweghe.
Hodge played college ball at North Carolina State
University where he was the Atlantic Coast Conference’s player
of the year in 2004. He was the first-round pick of the Nuggets
in the 2005 NBA draft but has played sparingly in his rookie
