Blast wounds 30 people in Istanbul

April 16, 2006

ISTANBUL (Reuters) – A bomb blast on the outskirts of
Istanbul wounded 30 people on Sunday, state-run news agency
Anatolian said.

No further information was immediately available. A police
official earlier told Reuters the blast wounded 17.

Turkey has been struck by a series of bombings in recent
weeks amid the worst street riots in more than a decade in the
mainly Kurdish southeast, which left 16 dead.
