Whirlpool to close Maytag plants, cut 4,500 jobs
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. on
Wednesday said it plans to close three plants as part of its
integration of Maytag, which it acquired in late March.
In a statement, Whirlpool said the moves, which also
including consolidating Maytag administrative offices, would
result in the elimination of about 4,500 jobs.
