Napolitano elected Italy president: official
ROME (Reuters) - Italian lawnmakers elected Giorgio
Napolitano, an ex-communist 80-year-old life senator, to be the
country's new head of state on Wednesday, lower house speaker
Fausto Bertinotti announced to parliament.
Napolitano won 543 votes, 38 more than the absolute
majority needed.
