Coast Guard cleans up Nassau Bay oil spill
June 5, 2006
HOUSTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Coast Guard and Texas
environmental agencies are cleaning up a small oil spill in
Nassau Bay, Texas, which feeds into Galveston Bay, the Coast
Guard said on Monday.
Operations along the Houston Ship Channel, which runs
through Galveston Bay north and east of Nassau Bay were
unaffected by the containment and clean up of the spill.
Coast Guard spokesman Adam Wine said oil was spilled from a
tug boat that sank in Nassau Bay on Sunday. The Coast Guard
estimated that about two barrels of waste oil had leaked from
the tug.
