Alberto prompts evacuations from Florida coast

MIAMI (Reuters) – Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday said
mandatory evacuations orders had been issued for areas along
the state’s west coast after U.S. forecasters warned that
Tropical Storm Alberto could become the first hurricane of
2006.

“Mandatory evacuation orders have already begun,” Bush told
a news conference in the state capital Tallahassee.
