Tiger misses cut at Winged Foot
MAMARONECK, New York (Reuters) – Tiger Woods missed his
first cut at a major championship in more than a decade and his
first at a major as a professional after carding a six-over-par
76 in the U.S. Open second round on Friday.
The world number one finished on 12-over 152 at Winged Foot
Golf Club, ending the record run of 39 consecutive major cuts
he shared with golfing great Jack Nicklaus.
Although second round action was still under way, 60
players had already finished ahead of Woods after 36 holes to
put him out of the tournament.
Woods’s previous missed cut at a major came as an amateur
at the 1996 Masters.
