Tiffany settles US claims on rattle hazard
CHICAGO (Reuters) – Luxury retailer Tiffany & Co. Inc. has
agreed to pay a $262,500 civil penalty to settle claims that it
failed to report a hazard with its infant teether rattles, the
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday.
The commission said Tiffany did not report to the
government in a timely manner that the center bar on its Farm
Teether Rattle could break, releasing small beads and animal
figures and posing a choking and aspiration hazard to babies.
