Gaza security officer’s home blown up

GAZA (Reuters) – A bomb exploded inside the house of a
senior Palestinian security officer in Gaza City on Tuesday,
seriously wounding a guard, security sources said.

It was not clear who was behind the blast at Nabil Tammous’
home, but it appeared to indicate that internal violence in the
Gaza Strip was resuming after a lull in the wake of an Israeli
offensive that had united all factions.

Tammous was not home at the time.

No one claimed responsibility.

Tammous is a senior member of the Preventive Security
Service, which is loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas. He is known
for his differences with the ruling Hamas movement.

Israel launched its offensive in Gaza after Palestinian
militants seized an Israel soldier in a cross-border raid on
June 25.
