‘Scott Peterson’ Reported Nixed From Film

Makers of the new Arnold Schwarzenegger movie “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” reportedly changed a character’s name from Scott Peterson to Scott Mason because of the notoriety surrounding the Modesto man charged with killing his wife and unborn son.

“Due to the name’s similarity to Scott Peterson and the plot of his fiancee’s kidnapping, the character’s name was changed,” according to the Internet Movie Database Web site.

While the character’s name was changed in the film, its credits, the official Web site and several fan Web sites still list the character as “Scott Peterson.”

The “T3″ character is engaged to a woman who is kidnapped. Scott Peterson’s wife, Laci, was reported missing Christmas Eve and found dead months later.

“T3″ representatives were promoting the film in Europe and could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.

In an interview on a British Web site, actor Mark Famiglietti, who plays Mason in “T3,” said they finished shooting the film in late August, four months before Laci Peterson was reported missing.
