4 Die in Israeli Missile Strike on Gaza
August 24, 2003
Israeli helicopters fired missiles at a car in Gaza City on Sunday, killing four people, witnesses said. The identity of those killed was not immediately known.
Israel’s army chief said only hours earlier that all members of Hamas are “potential targets for liquidation.” The missile attack came three days after a Hamas leader, Ismail Abu Shanab, was killed in such a strike.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment.
The killing of Abu Shanab came in retaliation for a Hamas suicide bombing that killed 21 people on a Jerusalem bus last week.
