U.S. Airways plane evacuated in Miami after fire
MIAMI (Reuters) - Passengers on a US Airways Boeing 737
were evacuated down slides on Thursday after their aircraft's
landing gear caught fire as it landed at Miami International
Airport on a flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, officials
said. They said no one was hurt.
"The crew reported smoke and fire from the left main
landing gear," a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation
The fire was extinguished, a Miami-Dade fire service
spokesman told Miami's WSVN television, adding that flames
anywhere near a fueled aircraft were always a big concern.
