TRACY — Detectives from the Tracy Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit arrested two Tracy men Thursday night after they were found with almost a half-pound of cocaine.

Through information collected by Detective Perry Anderson, SCU served a search warrant about 9:30 p.m. on a home on the 100 block of W. 23rd Street on Thursday, recovering cocaine, $10,000 cash, a handgun and a stolen motorcycle, Sgt. Mark Duxbury said.

The drugs have a street value of about $18,000, according to some narcotics officials.

"We don’t see a lot of powder cocaine on the streets," Duxbury said. "Methamphetamines have just become so much more popular."

Jose Roberto Alcantar, 35, was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on a charge of possession of cocaine for sale. Investigators also arrested his brother Juan Alcantar, 31, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department Web site, Jose Alcantar is being held on $38,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at 11 a.m. Monday in Department T2 of San Joaquin Superior Court in Tracy. Juan Alcantar, who is being held on $13,000 bail, is expected to appear at 1 p.m. in Department T1.

Duxbury said the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed in the near future.
