Women who want to retain their summer silhouette over winter but despair at the thought of breaking a sweat amidst a sea of fitness fanatics will find the support they need at Christchurch’s exclusive club- oriented fitness centre, A Womanz Place.

A Womanz Place is the fitness haven for women who enjoy being pampered in a friendly, professional and relaxed environment, while maintaining their fitness and ideal body weight.

Owner Kathy Swailes has had 10 years’ experience in the fitness industry and claims A Womanz Place is the only fitness centre in Christchurch that operates on a club basis for women wanting to improve their image and inner well-being.

Located upstairs at 118 Victoria Street, A Womanz Place offers women of all ages an opportunity to increase their fitness levels and self- confidence in a free-weights studio environment.

Members train at all times under the supervision of one of three fully qualified personal trainers. They encourage members during their exercise programmes and offer advice on perfecting specific skills and training. All three personal trainers are registered exercise professionals (REPs), ensuring a high standard of training is maintained at all times.

A Womanz Place offers all- inclusive membership packages, enabling you to choose the level of commitment that best suits your lifestyle. The centre has ample space and equipment, with limited membership numbers avoiding overcrowding, and an extensive range of cardiovascular and functional training equipment.

“We have packages that include fitness assessments before you start, and at regular intervals, so you can keep an eye on your own achievements. We also offer tailored fitness programmes with one-on- one instruction. These are regularly reviewed to the gain maximum benefit for your efforts, achieving great results,” says Swailes.

Included in all memberships is complimentary use of towels, robes and products in the centre’s luxurious Swedish sauna and individual shower booths. There is also a secluded area for the centre’s Dr Hauschka beauty therapist, Sally Hogan, for those in need of essential pampering.

Members can also participate in classes, such as pilates or yoga, which are kept to a maximum of eight members a class, ensuring a more personalised training session.

“Whether you choose a personal training package, or prefer to go it alone, there will always be a trainer on the floor for companionship while you are exercising, if that’s all you require, or to ask questions when you need reminding about exercises on your programme card. The trainers will also be aware of what you are doing, to ensure a safe and effective exercise technique.

“We offer the expertise, but it’s our members who bring in the culture that make it such a nice place to work and train,” says Swailes.
