Tri-C’s Western Campus to Host Parma Relay for Life
Cuyahoga Community College's Western Campus will host the American Cancer Society's Parma Area Relay for Life 2007. The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 27, and continue through 9 a.m. Saturday, July 28, and will involve residents of Parma, Parma Heights, Seven Hills, Brook Park, Berea and Middleburg Heights. Fox Eight News Reporter Kathleen Cochrane will serve as host for Relay for Life 2007.
The schedule of events is as follows (schedule subject to change):
5 p.m. - Welcome and introduction of host Kathleen Cochrane 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Invocation, survivor speakers Kathleen and James Bond, balloon launch, survivors introduction and lap, survivor dinner, and team introduction and lap 8 p.m. - Music 9 p.m. - Luminaria ceremony 10 p.m. - Games begin Midnight - Snack 5 a.m. - $5 pancake and sausage breakfast served 9 a.m. - Closing ceremony and awards
Last year, nearly 6,500 individuals visited Tri-C's Western Campus for the two-day event. More than 1,600 participated as walkers, and more than 600 cancer survivors and their caregivers joined the celebration. Nearly $200,000 was raised for cancer education and research.
