Renowned Interventional Pulmonologist Joins Cancer Treatment Centers of America

PHILADELPHIA, July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Cancer patients treated at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Philadelphia will now benefit from the expertise and clinical leadership of Mark Lund, MD, who is one of only five annually trained interventional pulmonologists nationwide. With a career devoted to the treatment of thoracic oncology and marked by research, leadership appointments, and numerous awards, Dr. Lund will join Cancer Treatment Centers of America as Director of Interventional Pulmonology, ICU Director and the Bronchoscopy Suite Director.

Prior to joining CTCA, Dr. Lund served as Director of Interventional Pulmonology at the Regional Center for Complex Airways Disease Management at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Maine. During that time, Dr. Lund excelled in teaching and training students, nurses, residents, fellows and post graduate physicians. In addition, Dr. Lund has served on numerous professional organizations and scientific societies. He has held leadership positions at the American College of Chest Physicians (Interventional Procedure and Diagnostic Chest Steering committee), and the American Association of Bronchology. Dr. Lund is a member of the American and World Association for Bronchology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and by sub-specialty boards in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine.

Dr. Lund received his Bachelor of Science degree at the Virginia Military Institute and trained as physician's assistant at Emory University. He earned his medical degree from the Jefferson Medical College before completing advanced fellowships in Interventional Pulmonology and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked diligently since fellowship to publish, participate and lecture for the American College of Chest Physicians.
As a part of Dr. Lund's life-long commitment to improving cancer treatment, he has participated in wide-ranging research. Dr. Lund has been published widely during his career. In addition to writing numerous abstracts and editorials, he has contributed to chapters and manuscripts in Chest, which is the journal of the American College of Chest Physicians and The Journal of Bronchology. Dr. Lund has been honored for his tireless work in clinical medicine by his teaching awards in pulmonary medicine and thoracic oncology. Among these honors included convocation in 2005 as a fellow at the American College of Chest Physicians and the Annie Simpson Pulmonary Medicine Prize in Pulmonary Medicine.
