MILTON – The proposed state budget on Gov. Deval Patrick’s desk includes a $350,000 request that would go toward a geriatrics program at Milton Hospital.

The hospital is revamping its emergency room, overhauling its lobby and adding an 80-car parking garage.

The renovation and expansion is estimated to cost more than $30 million.

According to state Sen. Brian Joyce’s office, the geriatrics program would be a collaboration between Milton Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

The program would increase and coordinate the services delivered to the elderly and include inpatient and outpatient care, rehabilitation, post-acute care and long-term care, assisted living and retirement communities and education.

Last year Joyce secured $300,000 for Milton Hospital.

Hospital officials could not be reached for comment.
