ProVation® Medical, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, announced today that Alegent Health has selected ProVation® MD software for gastroenterology and pulmonary documentation and coding. The software will be implemented at the health care organization’s five metro locations throughout Iowa and Nebraska.

ProVation® MD software for multi-specialty procedure documentation and coding compliance replaces dictation/transcription and streamlines the coding and billing process. Driven by deep medical content, ProVation MD allows clinicians to quickly and completely document medical procedures and apply the appropriate CPT and ICD codes, as well as CCI edits.

Alegent Health is a not-for-profit, faith-based health ministry that was established in 1996 by Catholic Health Initiatives and Immanuel Health Systems. Alegent Health is the largest health system in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa with nine acute care hospitals, more than 100 sites of service, more than 1,200 physicians and roughly 8,500 employees.

“Alegent Health strives to be on the cutting edge when it comes to the delivery of health care for our patients, and we look for technology that delivers greater efficiency and greater cost savings to help keep medical costs down,” said Ken Lawonn, Alegent Health senior vice president and chief information officer. “Utilizing ProVation software to automate procedure documentation is part of our commitment to embracing technological advances that benefit our patients and improve our processes.”

Alegent Health was among the American Hospital Association’s Most Wired Hospital Award Hospitals & Health Networks in 2006, 2005, 2003, 2002, and in 2006 took the Most Wireless Hospital Award. In 2007, CEO Wayne Sensor named one of top 25 Innovators in healthcare by HealthImaging and IT Magazine.

“Alegent Health is a national leader in the adoption of healthcare IT,” said Arvind Subramanian, President & CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions and ProVation Medical. “We are pleased that they have embraced ProVation software as the technological solution to streamline workflow, reduce administrative costs and recover revenue for GI procedures.”
