I Want to See a Breakdown

“Code Red” again at Wellington Hospital (July 21-22)? Could someone please tell us what’s going on with Capital and Coast District Health Board?

I was utterly appalled to read your weekend front-page headline, Cancer kids face trip away for care. According to the health board, this latest crisis has been caused by vacancies in oncology, radiology, geriatrics, anaesthetics and among junior doctors.

One explanation given is poor pay.

Why is this? District health boards are allocated funds. They must manage them.

I’d be very interested to see a breakdown of the allocation of these funds for the Capital and Coast DHB. It should include the amount that the administration receives.
