Northwest Hospital & Medical Center to Develop Sleep Laboratory

Posted on: Tuesday, 31 July 2007, 12:03 CDT

SEATTLE, July 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Northwest Hospital & Medical Center today announced it will open the doors of a newly constructed sleep laboratory on its main campus in early 2008. Under the direction and supervision of Ralph Pascualy, M.D., Northwest Hospital's sleep lab will offer the most progressive diagnostic equipment and treatment available, delivered by nationally recognized sleep medicine specialists. The new facility will feature eight private suites, and will offer patients all the comforts of home along with Northwest Hospital's signature commitment to quality care and patient safety.

"We're continually investing in new services, technology and facilities to meet the healthcare needs of our community," said C. William Schneider, Northwest Hospital's president and CEO. "We believe it's our responsibility to address the high incidence of sleep disorders and associated health risks, such as heart attack and stroke, if these disorders are left untreated. We look forward to working with Dr. Pascualy on this important endeavor to ensure the community has access to the best possible treatment available. We value his expertise, experience, and shared vision for a truly distinguished sleep lab at Northwest Hospital." Pascualy, a recognized leader in sleep medicine, will serve as medical director and provide management services for Northwest Hospital's sleep lab.

Additionally, Pascualy's physician practice group, NW Somnologists PLLC, will join Northwest Hospital's medical staff. The physician group will lease office space within the sleep lab to provide patients the convenience of consultations and exams in the same location that their sleep studies will be performed. NW Somnologists also will maintain its sleep lab services in other Puget Sound locations.

"I am excited to serve as medical director, and to work with Northwest Hospital to complement its existing services with a state-of-the-art sleep lab and a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to treating sleep disorders," said Pascualy.
