MedImpact Shares Vision on New Approaches to Pharmacy Benefits Management
Posted on: Tuesday, 31 July 2007, 15:04 CDT
MedImpact, the nation's largest pharmacy benefit management company (PBM) that does not sell drugs, today announced it will share its vision on new approaches to pharmacy benefits management at the National Association of Specialty Health Organizations' (NASHO) 5th Annual Leadership Summit. The Summit will be held August 1-2, 2007 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, California.
This annual event provides an excellent forum where specialty health industry leaders can learn about the impact of specialized services on health outcomes. The Summit also promotes the sharing of best practices in integrating specialty and general health. This year's Summit will feature a panel presentation on new opportunities for specialty health. David Wierz, director of managed care business development and government programs for MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc., will lead the PBM portion of the discussion.
In his presentation, David will outline current dynamics in pharmacy benefits management and will present innovative solutions to many challenges in the pharmacy benefits arena. These solutions include everything from value-based benefits that help encourage compliance with appropriate and sometimes critical drug therapies to tools that support integrated care management and ongoing patient engagement.
"Specialty health organizations--such as vision, dental, behavioral health, chiropractic, pharmacy benefits, and others that provide specialty health services--add significant value to the health care delivery system," said Janeen McBride, R.Ph., vice president, MCO and government markets for MedImpact. "MedImpact enthusiastically supports NASHO and its mission to shape the future of the specialty health industry, and we are pleased David will have the opportunity to contribute to this goal as a presenter at the upcoming NASHO Leadership Summit. David's discussion will benefit NASHO members as well as their health plan clients and consumers as they address issues in pharmacy benefits management now and into the future."
