Health-Care Insurance Increases Outpace Wage Increases

Posted on: Friday, 12 November 2004, 03:00 CST

Health-care insurance increases outpace wage increases. Workers' health insurance premiums increased by an average of 36% from 2000 to 2004, while their average earnings rose by just 12% during the same period, according to "Health Care : Are You Better Off Today Than You Were Four Years Ago?" a report recently released by the consumer group, Families USA. Included are data from the Census Bureau, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Health and Human Services. The report and fact sheets on health care in each of the 50 states are available online (www.familiesusa.org/site/ DocServer?docID=4601).
