ATHENS, Ga., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ — A new online healthcare management certificate program was developed collaboratively with Georgia LEADS (Lifelong Education and Economic Development Services), the University System of Georgia, and the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education as one way to address professional continuing education needs for healthcare professionals. The online program was developed in response to the growing, national healthcare worker shortage. Management training addresses this shortage through employee retention, lessening burnout, and creating a more effective workplace. You can learn more about this new online program at http://www.georgiacenter.uga.edu/healthcare/.

The self-paced, self-study, coach-mentor-supported program builds upon existing leadership skills and provides new information about healthcare management. The program is designed for healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and medical technologists, who have supervisory or management responsibilities.

The Healthcare Management Online Certificate Program will help participants increase their confidence, skills and abilities to become effective and efficient managers through a series of six modules, completely online. Modules include:

   – Human Resource Development and Staff Relationships, – Cultural Competency and Diversity Issues – Leadership Skill Development for the First-Time Supervisor – Management Ethics and Values-Based Decision-Making – Systems Thinking and the Management Team – Finances and Accounting for the Non-Accountant Manager

Each participant who successfully completes all six module requirements (90 hours of study), will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and 9.0 general continuing education units (CEUs).

This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

“[This is a] very good program for healthcare managers who want to make a difference in their organization,” said Colbert White, who was also a participant in the program.
