Health Net Federal Services Supports Armed Services YMCA As Mud Run Title Sponsor
Posted on: Friday, 10 August 2007, 15:04 CDT
Health Net Federal Services, LLC (Health Net), the government operations division of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), is proud to serve as the title sponsor of the 7th annual Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) Mud Run at Naval Amphibian Base, Little Creek, in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
The race will take more than 2,000 runners and walkers along Virginia's beaches, over berms, through creeks, water pits and -- most anticipated - mud pits. This ASYMCA fundraiser benefits the Hampton Roads ASYMCA, supporting its mission to improve the quality of life for junior enlisted military families through personal development, crisis prevention, deployment separation and child development programs as well as through social and recreational opportunities.
"Health Net Federal Services is proud to sponsor the Mud Run again and to continue our partnership with the ASYMCA, working together to address the unique challenges military families face. We are proud to help provide services and programs that improve their quality of life," said Steve Tough, president, Health Net Federal Services.
Specifically, proceeds from the Mud Run will help support Hampton Roads ASYMCA programs such as the Bread Ministry, which provides free loaves of bread, pastries and bagels to military families free of charge, and the Virtual Food Pantry, which provides gift certificates for groceries to those in need. In addition, proceeds support four community centers run by Hampton Roads ASYMCA. These centers provide childcare, joint activities for toddlers and parents and exercise classes as well as much needed companionship for military families who are missing the support of family and friends. Last year, the Hampton Roads ASYMCA proudly raised over $60,000 from this event. They hope to surpass that amount this year in order to carry out their planned giving program. Hampton Roads ASYMCA invites the entire community--military and civilian alike--to participate in the Health Net ASYMCA Mud Run.
The ASYMCA offers a Mini Mud Run for children ages 5-12. Prizes and giveaways will accompany both races.
The Health Net Armed Services YMCA Mud Run begins at 7:30 a.m., August 11, at the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, in Norfolk, Va. For more information, please call the Hampton Roads ASYMCA at 757-363-1884.
