Pavarotti Recovering Nicely From Infection
Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti is recovering nicely from an infection and should be released from an Italian hospital soon, his wife says.
Nicoletta Mantovani said Friday 71-year-old Italian tenor, who hospital sources said was hospitalized with a infection-based fever, could be released from a hospital in Modena within the next few days, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
My husband had a good night. I think they’ll discharge him soon, she said.
Doctors are very positive. My husband is relaxed and playful.
Pavarotti was hospitalized Wednesday for a slight fever and has since been moved to the hospital’s oncology ward.
The singer’s hospital visit comes more than a year after he had a pancreatic tumor removed while in the United States. Following that surgery, the tenor has undergone five chemotherapy treatments to fight his cancer.
Yet Mantovani had made a previous public statement in which she said her husband’s battle with cancer was going well and he was recording music again, ANSA reported.
