GLC Custom Publishing Receives Awards of Excellence for Best Redesigns and Most Improved Magazines & Journals

GLC Custom Publishing in collaboration with their clients received two Awards of Excellence from The 19th Annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence -- an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. The annual competition is sponsored by the Editors of Writing that Works: The Business Communications Report. The APEX 2007 awards were based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and success in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence. In this year's competition, 4,916 entries were evaluated. The awards, the award categories, and the publications were as follows:
Award of Excellence in the category of Best Redesigns for the design and illustration of Frontiers magazine. GLC creates Frontiers magazine for the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center--Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC--James). The OSUCCC--James focuses on all aspects of cancer care including research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, control, rehabilitation, and education. Their tri-annual publication, Frontiers, highlights OSUCCC--James research initiatives and a wide array of cancer treatment, prevention and wellness information. Frontiers is distributed to the country's leading research and medical oncologists as well as patients. The OSUCCC--James was recently ranked 15th in cancer care programs by U.S. News & World Report in their annual rankings of health care providers.
Award of Excellence in the category of Most Improved Magazines and Journals for Beyond Medicine, the Inova Health System's quarterly consumer magazine. Beyond Medicine highlights personal stories of patients who have benefitted from the health care services provided by the Inova hospitals. Additionally, the magazine offers readers wellness information and access to community health programs. Inova Health System is an award-winning, not-for-profit health care system based in Northern Virginia that consists of hospitals and other health services including emergency and urgent care centers, home care, nursing homes, mental health and blood donor services, and wellness classes.
