Health Net of California Provides No-Interest Loan to Help Tipton and Pixley Medical Clinics Meet Payroll and Expenses

Health Net of California is providing a no-interest loan and making it possible for two Tulare County health clinics to reopen after being shuttered due to the state's budget delay.
The Tipton Medical Clinic and the Pixley Medical Clinic were forced to close last week after their Medi-Cal funding was interrupted as a result of the budget delay, making them unable to meet payroll and basic expenses.
"Health Net's no-interest loan is a godsend," said Linda Roberts, RN, owner/administrator of the Tipton and Pixley Medical Clinics. "This allows us to continue serving our patients and the community at large."
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "We need to get a budget passed now because too much is at stake. We cannot continue to jeopardize our vulnerable citizens that depend on state-funded facilities to survive, facilities like the Tipton and Pixley Medical Clinics. It is great that Health Net of California has stepped in to provide this critical financing, but it doesn't change the fact that the state's budget is six weeks overdue and the stalemate needs to end."
"We are committed to the communities we serve, and we took action to ensure that quality medical services remain available in these communities," said Dave Meadows, vice president of State Health Programs for Health Net of California.
Health Net of California, a subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), is one of the largest health plans in the state.
