MONTREAL (CP) – A veteran Montreal crime reporter is being inundated with calls about a nine-year-old girl who has been missing for a month.

Cedrika Provencher disappeared on July 31 after failing to return from a bike ride near her home in Trois-Rivieres, about midway between Montreal and Quebec City.

The family enlisted the help of journalist Claude Poirier on Monday, who urged anyone with pertinent information to contact him on a cell phone he promises to answer day or night.

More than 125 calls have come in on the cell phone line in the first 24-hours.

Cedrika’s family would like to have the missing girl back by her 10th birthday on Wednesday.

There is an $80,000 reward for Cedrika’s safe return after witnesses reported the girl said she was helping a man look for a lost dog.

Poirier can be reached by calling 514-730-3940.
