Cielo MedSolutions Offers Primary Care Practices On-Demand Patient Registries and Quality Reporting

Cielo MedSolutions, a healthcare software and information technology company, released a web-based version of its clinical quality management (CQM) system that offers on-demand patient registries and quality reporting for primary care practices and health systems.
The ASP version of Cielo Clinic 1.8 allows practices to access the software over a secure internet connection eliminating the need to purchase hardware or maintain technology within an office. Cielo Clinic 1.8 presents the clinician with powerful preventative care and disease management information based on multi-problem patient registries dynamically generated from clinical data. The system uses clinician verified data to create "clinical dashboards" -- in paper or electronic format -- that summarize patient information such as required lab tests and preventative screenings.
New features of Cielo Clinic 1.8 include rules for pediatric and adult immunizations, tracking of vital signs, a customizable patient encounter form, patient status reports and enhanced payor documentation and reporting. Cielo Clinic also tracks and reports on physician and group practice performance based on measures defined by organizations such as the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the US Preventative Services Task Force. The system includes automated healthcare quality reports.
"Many practices require a quality management system that can be dynamically updated and does not require a large investment in new computer hardware," said Christopher King, vice president of operations for Cielo MedSolutions. Unlike electronic medical record systems which are based on administrative data, Cielo Clinic uses clinician-verified problem and reminder lists to capture clinical data and record it in a clinically-meaningful manner with accuracy superior to using administrative data alone.
