No Sweater Needed Today

Sep. 12–The chill in the air earlier this week perhaps portended an end of summer and prompted a few of you to pull out the sweaters, but warm days aren’t ready to retreat just yet.
Today’s high is supposed to reach 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, followed by a high of 75 on Thursday. And although Friday is expected to be cooler with a high of 67, temperatures are expected to rise again over the weekend to highs of 78 and 80.
TODAY’S HAPPENINGS -Rebecca Rodriguez from Peak Vista Community Health Center will speak at the General Federated Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs meeting, 2 p.m., Colorado College, Slocum Commons, first floor, southwest wing, Slocum Hall, 130 E. Cache La Poudre St.
-Colorado College English professor David Mason will talk about his book, writing and teaching at Pikes Peak International Reading Association meeting from 4 to 6 p.m., Colorado College, Gaylord Hall, main floor of Worner Campus Center, 902 N. Cascade Ave.
-There will be a reception and talk with Laura Ross-Paul at 4:30 p.m., Colorado College, Coburn Gallery, Worner Campus Center, 920 N. Cascade Ave., free.
-Harrison School District 2 will hold a community information night at 6 p.m. at the Southeast YMCA, 2190 Jet Wing Dr.
-The city of Colorado Springs will hold a public open house for the Milton E. Proby Parkway project from 6 to 8 p.m. at Soaring Eagles Elementary School, 4710 Harrier Ridge Dr. Construction is to begin in 2010 and will cost $51.5 million.
