Del Monte Foods has entered into a partnership with The Giants Community Fund to provide healthy programs for the youth and families in the Bay Area in San Francisco.
Beginning in September, Del Monte will join the Giants Community Fund, the philanthropic arm of the San Francisco Giants organization, and Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) to sponsor a number of health fairs in Bay Area communities. The health fairs, which are part of the Giants Community Fund health initiative, will provide a variety of complimentary health and safety demonstrations, free health screenings, health-resource booths, and physical fitness testing.
Richard Wolford, chairman and CEO of Del Monte Foods, said: "We are thrilled to announce this official partnership with the Giants Community Fund. At Del Monte we are passionate about nourishing families and enriching lives every day by offering a variety of wholesome, delicious and convenient products that bring the entire family, including pets, together."
Sue Petersen, executive director of Giants Community Fund, said: "The Giants Community Fund's mission is focused on using baseball as a forum to encourage youngsters and families to live healthy, productive lives. We are grateful that Del Monte recognizes the need in providing healthy programs to underserved communities and has partnered with us on these much-needed community initiatives."
