Equinox Selects BodyGem(R) Metabolism Measurement Devices for New Nutrition and Fitness Program
GOLDEN, Colo., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- HealtheTech, Inc. , a Colorado-based company that develops and markets technologically advanced and proprietary handheld medical and commercial devices and software for the measurement of metabolism and nutrition monitoring, announced today that Equinox Fitness, with 17 clubs in New York and others opening in California and Illinois in 2005, has selected the BodyGem(R) device as a key component of the company's new nutrition and fitness program.
Equinox has launched its new comprehensive nutrition & personal fitness program to help clients achieve optimal results. The program combines Equinox's traditional exercise and personal training platform with a nutrition program into one comprehensive offering. "A key component to our program is having each client's unique metabolic fingerprint measured using the BodyGem," says David Harris, Director of Personal Training at Equinox. "This simple measurement tells us how much nutrition a person should be taking in and how much they should be exercising to achieve the desired result. It's really been the missing link until now and the BodyGem finally bridges the gap between exercise and nutrition," added Harris.
"We are pleased that Equinox has selected HealtheTech's weight management tools into their programming," said Sandy MacPherson, President and Chief Operating Officer at HealtheTech. "An accurate measurement of one's unique metabolism is a critical piece of information in any successful weight management program. Once clients have this missing piece of information, they can work with their trainer or nutritionist to customize a program based on the uniqueness of their body," continued MacPherson.
The BodyGem is a scientifically validated handheld device that accurately measures an individual's unique Metabolic Fingerprint(TM) with a simple 5 to 10 minute breath test. Sold to professionals in fitness, nutrition, and weight management environments, the device provides a tool for assessing an individual's unique calorie needs. Metabolism represents up to 75 percent of the total number of calories a person burns each day, providing the basis for a customized weight management and fitness program tailored to each individual client.
