HealthPartners Member Satisfaction Highest in Minnesota According to New Independent Survey

Posted on: Tuesday, 25 September 2007, 15:00 CDT

HealthPartners has the highest overall scores of member satisfaction among health plans in Minnesota according to an independent survey of consumers' experience with health care. The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey, which was released today, asks consumers 40 questions about their experience in key areas such as easy access to care, how well their doctor and nurse listens and how quickly their claims were processed. HealthPartners ranked above the national average in five of the eight key areas -- the most of any health plan in the state. In addition, HealthPartners had scores of 90 percent or higher in areas including: getting care as soon as it was needed and courteous and respectful treatment from HealthPartners customer service.

Areas where HealthPartners ranked above the national average include:

-- Health plan rating -- Personal doctor rating -- Getting care quickly -- Doctor communication -- Processing claims accurately and quickly

"Consumers deserve great service and care and this survey gives them important information to help them choose a health plan that will give the best value," said Scott Aebischer, senior vice president of customer service and product innovation.

The CAHPS survey is used to accredit health plans and in the U.S. News and World Reports/NCQA America's Best Health Plans list (www.usnews.com). In 2006, HealthPartners was the only Minnesota health plan to rank in the top 50 nationwide.
