Thousands to Fight Cancer With Lance Armstrong at the LIVESTRONG(R) Challenge Portland

Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF):

WHAT: Cyclists, runners, walkers, cancer survivors and spectators of all ages will join Lance Armstrong at the LIVESTRONG Challenge, hosted by the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and presented by Nike. More than 3,000 LIVESTRONG Challenge participants and volunteers have collectively raised more than $1.5 million to help support the fight against cancer.

WHEN & -- LIVESTRONG Village: Cancer information, sports gear and WHERE: apparel and new product demonstrations; open to the public. Saturday, September 29, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 30, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Nike World Headquarters - Tiger Woods Center; check in at media tent (directions and map follow)

-- LIVESTRONG Challenge Fundraising Appreciation Dinner: Hosted by Lance Armstrong and honoring Challenge participants who have raised a minimum of $3,000. Fundraising awards will be presented to top individual and team fundraisers. 300 guests expected. Saturday, September 29, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 pm Nike World Headquarters - Tiger Woods Center; check in at registration table

-- LIVESTRONG Challenge Ride Opening Ceremony: featuring Lance Armstrong Sunday, September 30, 7:10 a.m.-7:25 a.m. Nike World Headquarters - Start Line; check in at media tent

-- LIVESTRONG Challenge: More than 2,500 registered participants will ride, run and walk. Sunday, September 30, 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Nike World Headquarters - Start and Finish Line; check in at media tent

-- LIVESTRONG Challenge 5K Ceremony: featuring Lance Armstrong and world-champion runner Alberto Salazar Sunday, September 30, 8:50 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. Nike World Headquarters - Start Line; check in at media tent

Credentials

Media planning to attend the LIVESTRONG Challenge must apply for media credentials through the online media room at livestrongchallenge.org/media. Credentials will be distributed on-site at media check-in.
