Sep. 28–LOSS: Hospice of Lancaster County’s PATHways Center for Grief and Loss, 685 Good Drive, will host the support group “Coping with the Loss of a Loved One” at two locations Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The first session will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at The Glen at Willow Valley, 675 Willow Valley Square. A second session will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ephrata Cancer Center, 460 N. Reading Road, Ephrata.

SUGAR CAKES: The Lancaster Moravian Church will hold a Moravian Sugar Cake sale on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the church, 1460 Eden Road.

Price is $3 per cake. Orders should be picked up at the church between noon and 1:30 p.m.

INTERFAITH BANQUET: The third annual Interfaith Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at James Street Mennonite Church, 323 W. James St.

Redrose Foundation and the church are bringing Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus and Buddhists together for a meal and seminar on “Co-Existence in Multicultural Society.”

ADOPTION: Bethany Christian Services, 1689 Crown Ave., Suite 1, will hold an informational meeting on adoption from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Learn information on adopting older children, especially between the ages of 8 and 14.

ABWA: The Wheatland Conestoga Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Park Plaza, Centerville Road. New members are welcome.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30. Dinner reservations are required by calling Sallie Spotts at 569-8833.

The mission of ABWA is to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally.

CAMBODIAN SURVIVOR: An internationally-known human rights leader who survived the Khmer Rouge “Killing Fields” in Cambodia will speak at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Elizabethtown College’s Leffler Chapel and Performing Arts Center.

Arn Chorn-Pond was sent to a work camp after the Khmer Rouge came to power in Cambodia in 1975. He escaped execution and starvation by playing his flute for camp guards, and later fled his captors.

A 2003 documentary film about Chorn-Pond, “The Flute Player,” will be shown Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in E-town’s Gibble Auditorium.

Chorn-Pond will offer commentary at that showing. Both events are free and open to the public.

ORATORIO: The Lancaster Oratorio Society will begin its second season of rehearsals at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, 140 E. Orange St.

The fall performance this year will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18, featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria in D”. Membership is open to everyone, with no auditions required.
