Powell Goldstein's Scott Sorrels Named National Vice-Chair of Venturing for Boy Scouts of America

ATLANTA, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Powell Goldstein LLP announced today that partner Scott Sorrels has been named National Vice-Chair for the Venturing Program of the Boy Scouts of America. Through its Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing divisions, the organization provides positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. In this position, he will oversee program delivery for over 200,000 young men and women ages 14 to 21 nationwide.

Mr. Sorrels concentrates in securities and regulatory litigation, corporate investigations and corporate governance counseling and disputes. Prior to joining Powell Goldstein, he was an enforcement attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Sorrels earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University.
Mr. Sorrels is active in the community and is also presently serving as Area Six President, Southern Region, Boy Scouts of America. This organization serves over 60,000 youth through ten councils in four states. He is a past president of the Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America, and serves on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts' Atlanta Area Council.
Mr. Sorrels was recently honored as the Marketing Partner of the Year at the 2007 Marketing Partner Forum.
