Patient Scheme on Shortlist for Award
A PIONEERING patient care campaign at Walsall Manor Hospital has been shortlisted for a national award.
Walsall Hospitals NHS Trust’s Getting Better for Patients project is in the running for an Impact Award 2007, organised by The National Centre for Involvement.
The Getting Better for Patients campaign, launched earlier this year, involves patients, volunteers and hospital staff, and highlighted six main patient priorities and has included a programme of themed activities.
Among the initiatives is a move by senior nursing staff to get ‘back to the floor’, increasing their visibility and talking to patients about their experiences, and patients are being encouraged to have their say by completing a questionnaire on discharge.
Deputy director of nursing Jo Galloway said: “Patient involvement has been central to the Getting Better for Patients campaign.”
The National Centre for Involvement is holding a gala event in London on November 28 to announce the winner.
