What happens when you put five women in a bar with a karaoke machine and free-flowing alcohol?

A stage musical.

A touring version of “Girls Night: The Musical” comes to the Pabst Theater this weekend for four shows. “Girls Night,” written by Louise Roche, was a smash in the United Kingdom, where it’s been on three national tours since 2003.

The story centers on five women on an outrageous bender at a karaoke bar. Between belts, they remember the bad old days, talk frankly about their lives today and wonder what will happen in the future. The characters are Carol, a partyer; Anita, a straight- talker; Liza, a psychological hypochondriac; Sharon, an alleged “good” girl; and Kate, the designated driver.

Girl-power anthems reign throughout during the karaoke portion of the fun – expect straight shots of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

They just wanna. They just wann-ahhh-ah.

Shows are at 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pabst Theater, 144 E. Wells St. Tickets are $35. For information, call (414) 286-3663 or see www.pabsttheater.org.
