SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Several medical groups affiliated and aligned with Sutter Health have been honored as tops in quality by the independent and highly respected health care leadership group, the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA). The recognition is part of the IHA's annual Pay for Performance (P4P) report card.
Sutter-affiliated medical groups recognized for top performance are Solano Regional Medical Group of the Sutter Regional Medical Foundation; Camino Medical Group and the Palo Alto Division of Palo Alto Medical Foundation; and Sutter Medical Group and Sutter West Medical Group, both part of the Sutter Medical Foundation. Sutter-aligned Mills-Peninsula Medical Group also won a top performance award.
Solano Regional Medical Group/Sutter Regional Medical Foundation was also among a select number of physician organizations honored with the first annual Ronald Bangasser, M.D., Memorial Award for Quality Improvement. These awards were given to physician groups that showed the most significant year-over-year improvement on pay-for-performance measures from 2005-2006.
Sutter Health and each of its affiliates also have created a special section on their Web sites to openly share information about the quality of care provided to patients at the not-for-profit network. Sutter Health was among the first health systems in California to make this critical quality data available online when it posted its quality reports in 2006. At http://www.sutterhealth.org/quality/ anyone can easily learn how the Sutter Health network, as a whole, stands up to several nationally recognized measures of quality. Comparisons to state and national standards and Sutter Health's target goals also are provided.
Medical groups, which participate in the IHA program, are scored on a series of quality benchmarks including preventive care and chronic care management, patient satisfaction, and use of information technology to support patient management and care
According to the IHA, California's P4P program involves approximately 40,000 physicians in 235 physician organizations.
