A student at an alternative high school in Cleveland brought guns to school Wednesday and shot at least four people before taking his own life, police said.
Police confirmed that the suspected shooter, a 14-year-old boy, killed himself after shooting the others, WTAM-AM reported.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson told a news conference three students and two teachers had been shot at SuccessTech Academy, a small high school with a non-traditional structure. The wounded included a 14-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and two male teachers, ages 42 and 57.
However, there was a report that the girl may not have been shot, but may have injured her knee in the chaos that erupted during the shooting.
Investigators believe the shooter was upset because he had been suspended Tuesday following a fight with other students Monday, WTAM-AM reported.
Tammy Mundy, mother of two SuccessTech students, told The Cleveland Plain Dealer her son called her on his cell phone to let her know that he had been shot in the arm. Her daughter called and said she was hiding in a closet.
Cleveland schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
