Heart-Healthy Treats Offered at Caribbean Nite

A cooking demonstration and an educational program are planned for the first Caribbean Nite, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, 150 S. Prince St. Also hosting the program is Lancaster General’s Heart Healthy Woman Program.

The free event will feature a cooking demonstration and educational program.

Participants will sample five courses featuring traditional ethnic dishes that have had a healthy makeover by Lancaster General Wellness Dietitian Jacqui Zimmerman, RD.

The educational program on healthy living will be led by Women’s Heart Health Educator Holly Shaffer, MS, CHES.

The event is designed for adults and youth 16 years or older. Childcare will not be provided. Registration is required by Oct. 15 and can be made by calling the Lancaster General Wellness Center at 544-3811.
