ARE YOU FIT FOR THE CHALLENGE ; Ladies-Only Gym Needs Personal Trainer S to Help Linda Spread Ahealthy Message

December 10, 2004

AGYM group who have women’s health at heart are looking for personal trainer s who can pull their weight alongside Linda Lusardi.

The model was recently recruited as a special ambassador by Fitness First For Women, who have 13 ladies-only health clubs in the UK. Her role is to encourage women to get fit and look after themselves.

And if you’ve got an HNC orHND in Health, Fitness and Exercise, you can help members of the group’ s Glasgow gym achieve that goal.

Linda was appointed as the face of Fitness First For Women this year and, at 46, is in better shape than she was 20 years ago. But she also understands why many women shy away from gyms.

Linda said: ‘Getting into shape can be daunting enough without feeling self-conscious while you are exercising.

‘Some gyms can be really intimidating, but Fitness First For Women is more about the work out than how you look while you are doing it.’

And that’s exactly what should make a ladies-only gym appeal to women who want to shake off the extra pounds gained during the festive season.

But starting to exercise isn’t only about losing weight. Linda feels that being fit and healthy helps her energy levels and means she is able to keep up with her kids – Lucy, 8, and five-year-old Jack – as well as hold down a busy career.

Linda has landed acting roles in The Bill, Brookside and Hollyoaks and recently launched her own skincare range, L7.

After her appearance on The Games, Channel 4′s celebrity sports challenge, Linda has kept up her fitness regime by working out regularly at her local Fitness First.

Founded in 1996, Fitness First For Women’s philosophy is to provide the best facilities in the women-only health club market. They are also a pressure group for women’s health issues in the wider society and are constantly looking to raise the profile ofhealth and fitness among their target market.

Fitness First For Women can help with exercise needs and general well-being, including weight loss and toning, pre and post-natal fitness and stress management.

There’s a steam and beauty room and the Sauchiehall Street gym also offers hypoxitherapy – a revolutionary new treatment that eliminates cellulite and burns fat and involves cycling and exercising under low atmospheric pressure.

Glasgow manager Claire Simpson said: ‘We have the best women- only facilities in Glasgow with some really cutting-edge equipment. We also offer tailored memberships, including discounted membership for mothers and daughters who like to work out together, and Energise over-55s, for those who prefer gentle exercise in a relaxed atmosphere.’
