Salt Lake-based Myriad Genetics Inc. has submitted an investigational new drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin a Phase I clinical study of a new cancer drug.
The study is designed to evaluate the safety and "pharmacokinetic profile" of the drug in patients with advanced solid tumors, in an escalating dose regimen, Myriad said in a statement Thursday.
In preclinical testing, Myriad stated the drug has been equally active against multiple drug-resistant cancers as with susceptible tumors, unlike many of the current options in cancer chemotherapy.
