Metabasis Announces Conference Call and Live Webcast Information to Discuss Third Quarter 2007 Financial Results and Other Company Events

Metabasis Therapeutics (NASDAQ:MBRX) announced today that it will host a conference call and live webcast on Thursday, November 1, 2007, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time to discuss its financial results for the third quarter of 2007 and other recent Company events. Dr. Paul Laikind, president and chief executive officer, Mr. John Beck, senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, and Dr. Mark Erion, executive vice president of research and development and chief scientific officer, will participate in the call.

During the Q3 conference call and webcast, Metabasis plans to provide an update on the findings from the recently completed Phase 2b trial with CS-917, a novel gluconeogenesis inhibitor that has been studied as a treatment for type 2 diabetes. Updates will also be provided on Metabasis' other clinical and preclinical stage projects, including MB07803, the second generation gluconeogenesis inhibitor, MB07811, a product candidate in the clinic for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, MB07133, a novel treatment for primary liver cancer, and pradefovir for the treatment of hepatitis B.
