Ed Hearn, former pitcher for the New York Mets and bestselling author of âœConquering Lifeâs Curvesâ will deliver the keynote address. Ed experienced the highs of winning a World Series and the lows of sudden illness and change. Through it all, he took a series of negative occurrences and turned them into a new championship that has inspired thousands of people internationally!
This year’s award recipients are:
Coach for Life̢s Champions Award РDr. James Morrissey, Cardiac Surgeon at St. Joseph̢s Hospital in Stockton, CA
Jr. Caregiver Award – Bryan Treadwell, who stepped up to care for his grandfather after he suffered two strokes.
Creative Expressions Award â“ There are two recipients in this category. Althea Jerrels, whose regular epileptic seizures challenge her way of expression, and the Cathy Gryson Family, 4 generations of stroke fighters.
Caregiver of the Year Award â“ This category has three amazing winners. The Morfin Family, who came to the rescue of their 24-year old brother and son to help him recovery from a devastating hit and run motorcycle accident; Richard Pardini, celebrating 65 years of marriage has spent the last 15 years caring for his love mate who no longer remembers him and has disabilities resulting from two strokes. Richard cherishes their memories and is affectionate still today; and Ron Gutierrez, after his wife had a stroke, reassures her that he loves her more than ever and would stand by her with a physical disability. The love and compassion Ron showed spearheaded his wifeâs fight for recovery.
The President’s Award â“ This special award will be presented to Joe Goldeen, Reporter and Health Blogger for the Stockton Record. According to Mary Nicholson, Founder & President of Healings in Motion, “Goldeen has been a beacon for those enduring challenges from an illness.
