NADDI Lauds Ohio Bill Introduction: Real-Time, Stop-Sale System Blocks Illegal Sales

September 27, 2011

LUTHERVILLE, Md., Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) – a nonprofit organization that facilitates cooperation between law enforcement, healthcare professionals, state regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the prevention and investigation of drug diversion – today released the following statement in response to representatives in the Ohio House introducing legislation which implements a real-time, stop-sale system punishing criminals, not law-abiding citizens:

“We are extremely pleased that Ohio Representatives have stepped forward and introduced legislation that will put in place a real-time, stop-sale system in the Buckeye State. Electronic technology provides law enforcement with a critical tool in battling the scourge of methamphetamine abuse, while allowing law-abiding workers and families to access the safe and effective medicines they need for seasonal allergies and colds,” said Charles Cichon, executive director of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI). “We know real-time, stop-sale technology works to block the illegal sale of pseudoephedrine as states across the country are successfully employing the electronic technology. Ohioans are fortunate to have elected officials in the state who are committed to advancing common sense legislation, which punishes criminals, not law-abiding citizens.”

Note: The Ohio Task Force Commanders Association (OTFCA) has endorsed the legislation introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives.
