Cargill Partners With Blair Family YMCA to Support Its Early Childhood Development Program
BLAIR, Neb., Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Cargill announced it is donating $150,000 to the Blair Family YMCA to support its early childhood development program, “Y Discoveries.”
Created in the fall of 2008, the Y Discoveries program aims to give families in Blair and surrounding communities more options for early childhood development. Cargill’s donation will help expand and enhance the YMCA’s facility to allow more toddlers and preschoolers to participate in the program. Funds will also support age-appropriate educational curriculum and social development activities for the children.
“The Blair Family YMCA is grateful to have Cargill as a corporate partner in the community,” said Sandra Ellis, executive director and chief executive officer of the Blair Family YMCA. “We have worked closely with our friends at Cargill to develop a strategic vision for our Y Discoveries program, and look forward to enhancing our ability to serve local families.”
“We believe this program has positive impacts on our community,” said Gavin Atkinson, manager of Cargill’s corn milling facility in Blair. “Through the educational and social development opportunities the Y Discoveries program provides, Blair Family YMCA is helping local kids grow and thrive. We’re proud to support its efforts.”
Cargill has contributed over $500,000 to the Blair Family YMCA.
