Vance Bjorn commentary: “Adoption of fingerprint biometrics by emerging nations such as Brazil and Nigeria has been phenomenal. Implementations have experienced enormous success and have stimulated voter participation, from registration to turnout. Using biometrics at point-of-voting provides reliable, easy-to-use proof of identity for local authorities that helps protect against fraud and reduces the risk of duplicate votes.
“Biometrics security technologies can also protect information gathered and used on the frontline in law enforcement and other civil duties. Council workers, police, civil servants and other public sector employees can access data securely on the move, thus avoiding high profile instances of data losses.”
