Community Food Co-op Adds More Local Favorites to its Product Lineup

Partnerships bring greater variety of high-quality local food to its members at significantly lower cost.

The Community Food Co-op, a Utah non-profit agency, announced that it has added a number of local food favorites to its list of offerings. These partnerships bring a greater variety of high-quality, locally produced food to the Co-opâs membership at a significantly lower cost.

Grass-fed beef from Blue Tree Cattle Ranch; Laurieâs Buffalo Gourmet chips and salsa; cheese and products from Tequenoâs; gluten-free pastries from Love Muffins; gourmet granolas from Tree Hugger Granola and desserts from Dessert Bites are among the list of new products. These add to the already large list of local favorites including: Taggeâs Famous Fruits, East Farms, Nutty Guys, Stone Ground breads, Cheese Bread Mania, Miss Essieâs Barbecue, Happy Monkey Hummus and others.

âœWe strongly support local food producers and are happy to be working with many of the most popular in the area, said George Neckel, director of the Community Food Co-op. âœThe foods from these local producers are favorites at farmerâs markets and stores all over the Wasatch Front. We offer these same high-quality foods at a lower cost.â

All of the foods are available at the Co-opâs weekly market sale, which is open to the public and runs indoors, year-round on Mondays (except national holidays), 3:30 â“ 6:30 p.m. at the Co-opâs warehouse, 1726 S. 700 W. in Salt Lake City. https://foodco-op.net/monday_market. Many of the foods are available on the Co-opâs monthly sale list, which has distribution points all over the Wasatch Front.

âœWeâre very excited to be working with the Co-op,â said Laurie Seron, founder of Laurieâs Buffalo Gourmet. âœThe Co-op is a great organization that combines high-quality food for its members and participants and doing good in the community.â

The Market Sale and monthly sale are open to everyone. For the monthly sale, participants order by the first Friday of the month online, via telephone, mail or in-person. They pick up their orders on a Saturday morning later in the month at the team distribution site of their choice.

There are no limits to the orders, no monthly commitment and no limits to the number of people who can pick up at a distribution site. The Co-op accepts credit/debit cards online; debit/credit cards, checks and food stamps by mail; and cash, if paying in person at the organizationâs office.

Thereâs no cost to become a member, but people are encouraged to donate at least $5.00 for their lifetime contribution when they become members. Members are encouraged to contribute 2 hours per month volunteering in the community and 2 hours per year volunteering with the Co-op.

Utahns who donât have convenient access to a team distribution site are encouraged to contact the Co-op about starting a new one in their area.
